Next, we will discuss what kind of machines we all use in our everyday life as a class. Afterwards, the students will be split into groups of four and will construct small vehicles made from their choice of 1 small piece of wood, 4 wheels, 1 small straw, 1 rod, 4 eyed screws, felt, string, 4 index cards, wire, 2 small popsicle sticks, 1 large popsicle stick, 4 small washers, and multiple paper clips. (Note that students will DESIGN these models and to avoid injure, I will then construct the model according to their plans.) The vehicle the students design should be able to carry an egg safely down an incline.
For homework, students should complete this homework sheet. Their note taking sheet should help refresh their memory.
